When we came across this bench rotting away in the garden, we weren’t immediately sure how many slats it was supposed to have as most had disintegrated over the years.
With a fresh coat of paint, our favourite dome head M8 coach bolts and nuts and slats machined from oak and treated with teak oil, this turned into beautiful casual seating for the garden.
Although a relatively easy job that most people could handle with basic tools, with the price of hardwood and ironmongery it’s not an inexpensive restoration. However, if you already have a dilapidated bench restoration will get you a significantly better quality piece at a lower cost than you could ever buy for new.
