‘Can you make a table with only one leg?’ was the request, which sounded a bit weird until they explained it was for a breakfast bar type installation for a premium holiday home renovation.
Apart from only needing one leg, the only real difference from a standard table is that the apron (the bits of wood beneath the table top) were fitted flush with the edges on two sides and set back in the other two to accommodate the single leg. This made it easy to screw the table to the wall.
Three corners of the four foot table were left as right angles, but the fourth, the leg corner, was gently curved in case of the inevitable bumps.
After softening the edges which was the requested design, the table was finished with a high gloss French polish before being dispatched to Wales about a month ago. Now its at last been installed as one of the final renovation details and the holiday cottage is ready to let.
