Another weekend and another chopping board. This was constructed from no fewer than 48 blocks of sapele lined with oak to make the basket weave pattern.
As you would expect this is an end grain chopping board… the highest quality as end grain is most resistant to knife marks.
Finished with a beveled edge, perimeter grove to catch any stray juices and finger grooves at both ends, the board is approximately 15″ by 11″, trimmed to have a block and line edge and the faces sanded perfectly flat.
The pictures more than do justice to this chopping board, in reality you’ll normally see this as a darker brown, but when viewed in bright sunlight the full beauty of the wood is revealed in all its glory.
Finally a few coats of food safe mineral oil made this board ready to use on delivery.
