This was a special build as it was a commission for my mum. With a rusting steel bench in the garden, she asked if I could make a replacement out of oak.
Naturally this wasn’t something I could turn down, so was soon eagerly cutting 13 bars for the back with tenons for the mortices cut into the back rails.
The seat was designed with a curve to sit on that carried up the rear legs and of course a bench isn’t a bench without arm rests solidly set into sloped mortices in the legs.
And yes, my mum is delighted!
